Monkey Mind

We now live in a world of choices and distractions and options and end up more and more confused because we are not sure which ‘Choice’ to go for.
I heard of an experiment that Panasonic did with a device that you can put on your head. It has blinkers that cover the eyes and noise cancelling headphones for the ears, so you can create a “Me Space” of peace and silence. I guess you need it at times.
I was on a train two days ago. Several passengers were watching videos and TV on their screens, some had earphones, but many did not! They were just totally oblivious of the muted cackle they were generating in shared space, and they were obviously so used to living in noise that they didn’t seem affected by it.
We are the most intelligent beings on the planet. Maybe in the Universe; well certainly in the tiny speck of it that we know. Ha, Ha! There is the rub, I guess.
Well we are certainly so intelligent that we seek to understand â€" Everything. We look for reasons and causes and explanations. Where we do not find them, we use our intelligence and mindpower to create explanations. Better a created cause than no cause at all, I suppose.
Studies have shown that it is often highly intelligent people who are attracted to cults and new age fads. They rationalise and seek to understand, and if they get convinced there is no looking back. If asked they are perfectly ready to give ‘Rational” and “Logical” explanations.
Someone in ancient times likened the mind to a monkey. It constantly needs diversion and quickly tires of whatever it is that diverts it. We owe all our progress to the sense of dissatisfaction felt by people through the ages but all the same, it also leads us to never be satisfied with our situation and whatever we have.
